Advanced workshops introduce landscape design, landscaping with native friendly plants, installing a water-efficient irrigation system, organic gardening, the art and science of good soil, integrated pest management (environmental ways to control pests), conserving water around the garden, and using drought-tolerant plants. Residents can purchase a backyard or worm composting bin at a discount.

Speaker:  Nicholas Staddon, Director of New Plant Introductions, Monrovia Nursery

Plant expert, Nicholas Staddon of Monrovia Nursery will provide you with an overview of new plant exploration in today’s world.  He will reveal how new plants are discovered and over a period of time are brought to the market place if worthy.  Nicholas will bring along a wonderful selection of new introduction plants perfectly suited to the southern California climate.  Some of them will be tried and true favorites, while some will be brand new introductions.  He will cover landscape gardening as well as container gardening and planting in varying garden conditions.
