Participants can learn how to grow an edible garden and actually work in a garden plot. This year-round program features formal classes/lectures, work days, and much more. In addition to these more formal classes, there are ongoing “work” days that include hands-on instruction in topics such as plant selection, soil preparation, fertilizing, natural pest control, irrigation, general garden maintenance, and harvesting/deadheading. Class is limited to 6 participants. Fundamentals of Gardening: Monday, September 17, 9 a.m. Adding Fall Seasonal Colors to the Edible Garden: Monday, October 1, 9 a.m. Fall Harvest Party: Recipes & Seed Saving: Monday, October 22, 9 a.m. Prepping the Garden for Winter: Monday, November 5, 9 a.m. Gifts from and for the Garden: Monday, November 26, 9 a.m. (All classes meet at Columbia Park Community Garden Presentation Area, weather permitting.
