"FLOWERS"

*  Stories and Songs about flowers plus play "(s)he loves me; (s)he loves me not' with a daisy
*  Watch how a white carnation can drink up colored water and change colors ! 
*  Flower Hunt:  Count how many red, white, pink and other colored flowers you can find in the nearby garden
*  Art project:  Paint a flower picture with watercolors and/or crayons
*  Pot a small flower plant to take home
*  Touch and smell a cut flower display

VERY IMPORTANT:  If you will be coming with a group of people, with over 10 children, please call the Foundation Office at (310) 544-1948 so we can make sure there are sufficient Docents on staff, in the Garden. 


Gate fees apply to non-members:

$2.50 - Children ages 12 - 4

Foundation members:  Free

Foundation Memberships:
$50.00 - Family (annual)
2 Adults and children under 18

Children's Discovery Garden
Enriching our Children's Lives Through Nature

We are now offering a program for preschoolers at South Coast Botanic Garden.  There will be planned monthly events, teaching the children about nature through story-time, art, potting and garden tours from 10am - noon. 
 
Dates are TBD and will be posted here once they are known.

 January:  Nature's Babies and their Houses  July 17 & 19:  Make a Salad Day
 February:  Prickly Cactus and Succulents  August 14 & 16:  Butterfly Day
 March:  Starting from Seeds  September 18 & 20:  Spiders and Webs
 April 24 & 26:  Turtles and Frogs  October 16 & 18:  Flyers, Wigglers and Crawlers
 May 29 & 31:  Spring Flowers   November 13 & 15:  Autumn Color and Trees
 June 12 & 14:  Humming Birds and Friends  December:  TBD

In addition to our monthly events, a docent will be on site, at the Discovery Garden every Friday from 10am - noon, with art and potting activities and more!  So stop by any Friday for fun and learning in the Discovery Garden.  

The daily admission fee applies to non-members.  Discovery Garden programs are offered at no additional cost.  Family memberships are $50 per year, or the daily admission fee is $7 for Adults, $2.50 for children 4 - 12 (4 and under free).      

If you would like to become a member, stop by the Foundation Office.  The office is open Monday thru Friday, 9am - 4:30pm.
