Summer 2008 Education Schedule
Ikebana:  $45/$50     $50/$55     Tuesdays     Instructor:  Reiko Kawamura
June 10, 17, 24, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Beginning and Intermediate:  1pm to 3pm     Advanced:  9:30am to noon

Elegance, grace and style are the characteristics of Ikebana.  learn the mechanics of manipulation and the observation of materials for their best usage in gaining the oriental view of flower arranging.  Elementary, Moribana, Free Style, Traditional, Hanamai, Rimpa and Bunjin will be taught.



Bonsai:  $42/$47          Wednesdays         Instructor:  Carol Upston 
June 11, 18, 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30      
7pm to 10pm

Learn to select the best shrubs or trees for the type of Bonsai you wish to create.  Instruction will include creating, training, styling and care.



Bird Lectures:  $18/$20     Wednesdays    Instructor:  Eric & Ann Brooks  
June 18, 25, July 2, 9 (4 sessions)
7pm to 10pm 

Have fun studying and identifying many of the species of birds seen in California.  Classes will use slides, videos, printed material as well as discuss bird books, binoculars, and periodicals.  


Successful Gardens:  $50/$55  Thursdays   Instructor:  Peggie Wormington 
9am to 11am (limited space)         1pm to 3pm (limited space)

Learn successful methods of gardening throughout the year, explore new and old favorite plants.  Discover  intriguing secrets of the plant kingdom; expand your knowledge by visiting gardens and nurseries.

9am to 12noon      

Learn to create paintings of nature that capture the softly colored art form that is expressed in the teachings and techniques of instructor, Hisako Asano.  You will also learn to mix and blend colors and manipulate your brush to create a 3-D value with a single stroke.
