  • Debra Lee Baldwin Presents Succulents Simplified

    When:
    Sat, 6/22 1:30pm - 3:00pm
    Location:
    Frances Young Hall

Lecture included with paid Garden admission

    Speaker: Debra Lee Baldwin

The South Coast Botanic Garden is proud to be the first Los Angeles-area venue to host Debra Lee Baldwin on tour with her new book, Succulents Simplified. Debra will share what's new and exciting with these architectural, geometric and stylish "plants that drink responsibly" and explain how a few photogenic Southern California gardens launched a worldwide phenomenon. “We have a near-perfect climate for succulents, so our botanical gardens, nurseries and landscape professionals have had a head start on the plants’ cultivation and uses,” she says. “The international gardening community is eager to see what Southern California hybridizers, growers and designers come up with next.” Debra also will show gorgeous new cultivars and how top garden and floral designers are using succulents in bouquets, topiaries and even wearable art.

Award-winning garden photojournalist Debra Lee Baldwin authored Designing with Succulents and Succulent Container Gardens, both bestsellers. Her new book, Succulents Simplified: Growing, Designing and Crafting with 100 Easy-Care Varieties is a Timber Press summer, 2013 release. Debra is a regular contributor to Sunset and other publications, and her own half-acre garden near San Diego has been featured in Better Homes & Gardens. She specializes in showing how to use architectural, water-wise and easy-care succulents in a variety of appealing and creative applications. Debra will sign books before and after her presentation.
