  • National Public Gardens Day

    National Public Gardens Day was created to raise awareness of America’s public gardens and the various roles they play in our lives: promoting environmental stewardship and awareness, plant and water conservation, and education in communities nationwide. Docent and self-guided walking tours will be available.

  • Family Picnic Day: Rare Fruit Orchard

    Upper and Lower Meadows

    Picnic with paid Garden admission

    Bring your family for a picnic at the Garden and visit the Rare Fruit Orchard, which displays over 50 different varieties of fruiting trees, shrubs, and vines. This new display orchard focuses on fruits that are great for the local home landscape with a focus on fruits that aren’t readily available in your local supermarket. You can see Dragon Fruit vines, Banana Shrubs, and stone fruits trees suitable to our mild climate. A self-guided tour and information sheet will be available. Please visit the Gift Shop for more information. Picnics are not provided, but feel free to bring your own. The Upper and Lower Meadows will be open for picnicking.

  • A Faery Hunt Presents Fairy Time in the Enchanted Garden

    Tours begin at 9:30 am, 10:00 am, 10:30 am, 11:00 am, 11:30 am, and 12:00 pm

    $12 for adults and children, members and non-members – Includes one tour

    Join Faery Fauni and Faery Godmother Careen up close in an interactive walkabout in the enchanted gardens of South Coast Botanic Garden. The faeries will bring you stories of faery magic and flowers, with dancing, singing and fun. Starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending at noon.

    Groups and parties are welcome. Picnicking will be available on the lawn adjacent to the Amphitheater during the Event hours. Children are invited to come in costume. Fairy merchandise and face painting will be available for purchase.

    Call (310) 544-1948 for advance tickets. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your tour time.

    We would like to thank Judy of Mars Events (714-655-1012, marsevents@juno.com) for providing face painting services at the event.

    Girl Scouts can earn the Magical Faery Adventure Patch by attending the event. The program can be downloaded from their website at http://www.afaeryhunt.com/education.htm. Please click on “The Girl Scout Fun Patch Program” for more information.

    Bring your family for a picnic at the Garden and explore the El Rincon California Native Plants Garden, which embraces the Garden’s mission to present a model for sustainability by featuring water wise and wildlife friendly California native plants suited to dry sun and dry shade as well as plants adapted to the California wet meadow and shrubs suitable for a living fence. These zones are each represented in this inviting landscape. Join us at 2:00 pm for a tour led by the garden designer. A self-guided tour and information sheet will also be available.   • PV Symphonic Band Mother’s Day Concert

    Bring Mom to the Garden and stay to hear the band as they perform this very popular Mother’s Day Concert. This 50 person symphonic band is under the direction of David Stanton and consists of local musicians who wish to bring you the best of concert band music. Their repertoire includes Big Band, jazz, show tunes, marches, and folk favorites from America and around the world.

  • Spring Plant Sale & Boutique: Members-only Preview Sale

    Enjoy first choice of unique landscape plants for your garden. The Preview Sale is free and open to members only (current membership card must be shown for entry). Receive a 10% discount on all plant sale purchases. Coffee and donuts will be served. Line starts forming at 7:00 am.

    Sponsored by Propagation Workshop and South Coast Botanic Garden Foundation. This annual Plant Sale is an important fundraiser for the Foundation and a popular community event. Shop early for best selection. Additional vendors will participate including Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Pete’s Heirloom Tomatoes, Ricardo’s Nursery, John Matthews – "The Haworthia Guy," MB Landscaping & Nursery, Inc., Monalisa's Tropicals, Rainforest Flora Inc., Palos Verdes Begonia Society, and Al Palacio. Donated plants from Native Sons and San Marcos Growers will also be available for purchase. Garden boutique vendors include Soap Exchange; Judy Brown, Independent Product Consultant for Doterra Intl; and Sweet Sugar Bath. Free activities for kids and food trucks have been added.
