Needle Felting Art Workshop

Instructor:  Jessica Anderson, local Artist

Learn how to use a single needle to sculpt colored wool into fun 3D objects.  Participants will create a small project to get familiar with the concepts central to this unusual art form.  This workshop will take you through the steps of creating an adorable bird ornament to hang in your window or on your favorite tree, while teaching you basic techniques that can be used to create many different pieces.

Cost of class includes all materials to create your project.  Everyone will go home with a completed needle felted art object! 

Winter Photo Walk and Critique: Learn to Capture the Moment

Relaxed walks with photo coaching and easy assignments are followed by classroom evaluation and PowerPoint instruction.  Class critique includes brief reminders on composition and lighting.  All skill levels, any camera (digital or film, automatic or adjustable) are welcome.  Bring camera and manual to first class. 

Basic Drawing

Learn to draw with basic techniques using several mediums including pencil, colored pencil, ink, charcoal, and pastel.  You will learn extensive lessons in art theory and practice.  Please bring a No. 2 pencil to the first class.  A materials list will also be provided.

One-Stroke Painting

Camera Basics Refresher Course

Students will learn camera operation to properly expose images and strengthen composition, as well as review equipment, formats, and features. Instructor teaches simple icon settings, metering systems, apertures and shutter speeds, film speeds (ISO), and light temperatures (white balance).  PowerPoint presentations are given along with simple take-home learning assignments.  All skill levels, any camera (digital or film, automatic or adjustable) welcome.  Bring camera and manual to first class. 

Oriental Impressionistic Watercolor

Learn to create paintings of nature that capture the softly colored art form that is expressed in the teachings and techniques of instructor Hisako Asano.  You will learn to mix and blend colors and manipulate 3-D values with a single stroke. 

Material list:  

1.  1.5" Hake brush
2.  Strathmore 300 series watercolor paper (15 x 18)
3.  Water container
4.  Paper towels
5.  Watercolor palette
6.  Tube of transparent watercolors inthe follwoing basic colors:
      Alizarin Crimson (red)

Garden walks sighting spring blooms, foliage, and water fowl.  Easy strolls with photo coaching and suggestions as to choice of subject, composition, available lighting, and camera settings.  Two sessions of outdoor field study with third session in classroom for sharing of  images and guided review.  All skill levels, any camera (digital or film, automatic or adjustable).  Bring camera, manual, and tripod; wear walking shoes.
