Bonsai is the ancient art of dwarfing trees or plants by growing, pruning, and training according to prescribed techniques. Bonsai (pronounced bone-sigh) represents a fusion of strong ancient beliefs with the philosophies of harmony between man, the soul, and nature. Come see these truly breathtaking examples of bonsai. The South Coast Rose Society invites community members to bring their beautiful cut roses to display for this informal ‘Celebration of Roses’ rose shoe. Community participants are encouraged to bring their cut roses cut roses between 7:00 am and 9:30 am and enter them into the display. Entries including arrangements and one or more stems to a vase are welcome, containers will be provided, or bring your own. It is also helpful to know the names and varieties of the roses. Consulting rosarians will be on hand to answer questions.

If ever there was a flower that knew the meaning of variety, it is the Dahlia. While its colors are limited to the warm ranges of red, orange, yellow, pink, and white, its flowers come in a dizzying array of shapes and sizes. Dahlias bring life and beauty back to your landscape in late summer and into the fall months. The diversity of the Dahlia allow you to use them in many different aspects of your landscape design, from low growing border plants to stately background plantings that may reach six feet in height! Society members will be on hand to answer questions.
