Yellow Morel
The enlaged "head" or top of the fungus looks like a pine cone coming out of the ground. The surface is covered with ridges and pits or chambers which bear the spores. This specimen was found among the wood chip top dressing placed around the rose bed. Photos by Laurel Woodley
