As 2011 comes to a close, we'd like to thank all our members, donors, volunteers and visitors for their continuing support of South Coast Botanic Garden. We are excited for all the great things we have planned for 2012 and look forward to having you grow along with us. All of us here at South Coast Botanic Garden wish everyone a happy holiday and a very merry new year! 


DON'T FORGET! 

  • The Gift Shop at South Coast Botanic Garden is available for all your last minute shopping needs. The Gift Shop is open Friday, December 23 and Saturday, December 24 (from 10 am to 5 pm) and closed Sunday, December 25. 
  • The tram will be unavailable on Saturday, December 24 and 31. 
  • The Garden is closed Sunday, December 25.

Thursday, December 15 - 6:00 to 9:00 PM - The Gift Shop 

Avoid the mall crowds and fights for parking spaces and come join us for a very exclusive night for our members. The Gift Shop will be open after hours to help you get your shopping done. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided, as well as complimentary gift wrapping services. Special discounts for those who attend. We promise you'll find a unique gift for that special someone! 

 

HOLIDAY SHOPPING BOUTIQUE

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8 - 4:00 to 8:00 PM - Frances Young Hall

Local artists and vendors will be showcasing their items for all your holiday needs. Our vendors will be giving a portion of their sales to benefit South Coast Botanic Garden.

Our vendors include: Cl!x Portrait Studios, DuBunne Day Spa, Energy Muse Jewelry, Gigi Hill Bags, It's a Portia, Kelley Hart Creations, Kokoon, Living Christmas Tree Co.,  Marsatta Chocolates, Melokia Designs, Miche Bags, Photography by Celeste Mookherjee, Rose Hill Manor Candles, Savagely Sweet, Stella and Dot, Sugarcloud, Susan Lilly Designs, Union Bank, Willow House, and Wine Shop at Home.

In addition to all our vendors:

  • The Gift Shop at South Coast Botanic Garden will be open
  • SCBG Gift Certificates will be available for sale
  • Members from our Propagation Workshop will be selling plants
  • The TWIST Burger Truck will be on site!

Happy Thanksgiving to all our visitors, members, volunteers and supporters! We at South Coast Botanic Garden wish you all a wonderful holiday. As a reminder, the Garden is open on Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25. The Foundation/Membership Office and Gift Shop will be closed on Thursday, November 24 and open Friday, November 25. 

 

Time to Plant Those Bulbs

Join us this Saturday, November 19 - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm -  for Family Picnic Day! 

Bring your family for a picnic at the Garden and learn how this is the ideal time to plant bulbs for Spring. Take advantage of the coming rainy season and come learn about how to get your bulbs in the ground now. The upper and lower meadows will be open for picnicking. Tram tours will run at 11:00am and 1:00pm and cost $4 per person.

 

Welcome Veterans, Military Personnel and Families

In honor of Veterans Day, admission fees have been waived to South Coast Botanic Garden on November 5-12, 2011, for active military personnel, active reserve, retired military and their immediate families.  From Saturday, November 5 through Sunday, November 12, admission is free of charge with proper identification.

Bug Talk and Train Show

Garden Talk and Walk: Bugs and Other Garden Critters
Thursday, October 27 - 5:00 PM 
Help us welcome our friends from the Whittier Narrows Natural Areas who will be bringing several beautiful owls, pelts and animal track prints for everyone to experience. After a short presentation, we will take a walk out in the Garden to witness other bugs and critters. 

 

Model Train Show - "Freight Fright!" 
Saturday and Sunday, October 29 and 30 - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Come see these trains in action. Presented by the Los Angeles Division of the National Model Railroad Association - you will see trains of all scales on operating layouts, a "G" scale in the Cactus Garden and have the chance to attend special model railroading clinics.

Thank you everyone who came out to support the Fall Plant Sale and our Gift Shop Grand Re-Opening. Special thanks to all our volunteers, vendors, in-kind donors and staff members who contributed to these successful events!


The Gift Shop at South Coast Botanic Garden is now open with new merchandise being added regularly. Both outdoor and indoor plants are also being sold so don't feel you need to wait for our annual sale to find that special addition to your garden. Make sure to check out our plant stands!
